Lucette Riella Britton is the character you play as in Cinderella Phenomenon. She is the crown princess of Angielle, who has lost her title due to the effect of a Fairytale Curse. When you begin the game, it is possible to change her first name to something else.

Appearance[]

Lucette is a slender girl of average height with pink and red tinted hair, looking similar to her mother. However, she has golden eyes and fairer skin, which are traits she inherited from her father. Her hair is very long that goes down to her waist but keeps it up for most of the game. She has neatly cut bangs that falls just above her eyes with two longer strands on each side to frame her face. Her hair is perpetually tied up by being put into two braids that meet to right side of her head where she then ties it into a side ponytail. Despite being dressed by the servants in palace, Lucette comments that she does this hairstyle by herself.

She wears a few different outfits over the course of the game, which can all be seen in the gallery. Although the dress she wear predominantly wears throughout the game is a baby blue and white dress with dark blue accents and many details such as the white lily design on the skirt of her light blue dress and the dark blue frills on the sleeves, hem and some accents on the dress itself. She also wears baby blue mary jane shoes with a thick heel and dons an elaborately designed golden headband.

Personality[]

During the prologue, she is shown to be cold and dismissive towards everyone, earning her the nickname Ice Princess from those around her. She is distrustful towards anyone who attempts to show her kindness, believes in the worst intentions from everyone, and thinks so little of her subjects that she believes any horrible situation they could end up in is deserved. She is harsh and overly critical of those who work for her, firing many people for any mistake they could make. Despite her step-family attempting to be nice to her, she speaks harshly towards them and thinks of them as lesser for being commoners, going as far as to think of her step-mother as a 'lowly baker'. She also believes that those who are unfortunate enough to be afflicted by the Fairytale Curse should be banished from the kingdom as their curse prevents them from working as efficiently as everyone else.

After being cursed, she makes it clear that she can't understand the concept of doing something for someone without expecting anything in return. She doesn't want to do anything for other people, and when she does, it's because it benefits her in some way. When given work at the Marchen, she refuses to do the cleaning as she considers that work beneath her, which leads to Mr Broom coming into existence to force her to do some work for her keep. In her thoughts, she thinks of how the reason she wants her title is because it's her birthright, not because she feels any sense of responsibility, showing that she can be quite entitled.

She is also very blunt to the point that she has no tact, but this also makes her a very honest person who is upfront about her thoughts. However, as vocal as she can be, she is also very secretive of her feelings and keeps those to herself. This is due to her growing up and believing that her showing emotion and vulnerability is a weakness. As such, she doesn't talk that much to others and instead thinks many details that she doesn't share with the people around her. While she exudes confidence, which fits her upbringing as a princess who expects everyone to accept her behaviour and stance without question, deep down she is insecure of people hating her and judging her to be a terrible person despite having done nothing wrong. Though she claims to not need anyone, there is also an underlying loneliness within her.

Curse[]

Main article: Fairytale Curse

Lucette was cursed with the Cinderella Fairytale Curse, although her curse is the opposite of the tale. Rather than being a kind girl with nothing who becomes a princess, she is a princess that loses everything, becoming a peasant. She was cursed due to her cold demeanour by Delora, to allow her to find good within herself. The conditions of her curse states that no one remembers that she is the Crown Princess of Angielle. The only exceptions are the cursed, witches, and fairies as they are immune to the affects of a Fairytale Curse.

When she was cursed, a necklace with one glass slipper appeared around her neck. The second glass slipper pendent is incomplete. To break her curse, Lucette must complete the second glass slipper by performing three good deeds that come from her heart.

History[]

Lucette grew up relatively isolated and extremely sheltered. Her mother, Hildyr, would not allow Lucette to leave the palace for her own safety as the witch hunts then a war happened. Though even after all this ended, Lucette continued to remain hidden in her room. She had entered the town once after Hildyr's funeral and was met with hateful stares for no foreseeable reason, thus she became fearful of the townspeople and decided she was only safe within the palace walls.

For the first 13 years of Lucette's life, she had no one but her mother, as her father, Genaro, never made any time for her. From the memories that are shown in the game, Hildyr is seen to be quite stern and teaching Lucette to distrust everyone. Anyone that was trying to be nice to Lucette would be someone that was using her for her status. Showing any form of vulnerability means that they could use that weakness against you. Lucette took all of these lessons to heart, growing up to be cold and harsh as that was taught to her as a sign of strength.

During the Great War, Hildye dies in an accident. This death devastated Lucette, causing her to feel more alone then ever. We learn from the prologue that her father did not speak to her for months at this time, cementing the belief that her father never did love her.

A year before the game begins, Genaro runs into a baker, Ophelia, and falls in love with her. He marries her and brings her two children, Emelaigne and Rod, to the palace. Lucette was hostile to this decision, believing that Genaro was trying to replace her mother and her with this new family. It only made matters worse that Genaro tried to push Ophelia as Lucette's new mother and insisted that Emelaigne was Lucette's sister, despite that Lucette made it clear she did not ever want to see them as family.

Relationships[]

Love Interests[]

Rod
He is Lucette's step-brother. They first met a year ago when Genaro and Ophelia married. However, neither Lucette nor Rod saw each other as family, as Lucette despised his family and Rod hated Lucette. Initially, Lucette had no real thoughts on Rod, as he never spoke around her. He was the only person of his family that managed to not be hated by her due to this. Although, once she's been cursed, Rod comes over to the Marchen to see if she was indeed cursed, and that is when he reveals that he despises her for being cruel to his family.

While Lucette is in the Marchen, Rod chooses to stop coming to the Marchen to avoid her. If you are on Rod's route, Lucette will choose him as a partner based on the notion that she may be able to get a good deed if she can right the wrongs Rod accuses her of having done. Lucette is persistent in this partnership, having Delora's help getting Lucette a job at the palace as Emelaigne's personal maid in order to spend time with Rod. Rod is resistant of this partnership as he doesn't believe she is capable of performing any good deed.

Karma
He is one of the boarders at the Marchen. They first meet in the toy shop on the day Lucette is to be cursed. The meeting is only brief, with Lucette being amazed by Karma's great grace and beauty. They properly do get to meet after Lucette has been cursed and been brought to the Marchen. Karma happened to be one of the people that found Lucette on the streets and ensured she arrived at the Marchen.

Initially, Lucette does not seem aware of the fact that Karma rescued her on the night she was nearly mugged on the streets. She finds Karma to be exceptionally vain and shallow, calling him a narcissist. She also only finds out Karma is a man when Waltz tells this to Rumpel, which causes her to bitterly think about how if the women of Angielle knew, they'd be angered to find out that it was man posing as a woman who was that beautiful.

If you are on Karma's route, Lucette approaches him for help with breaking her curse as he was one of the people that offered to help. Despite that he admits he can only give her opportunities to do good and not actually teach her to become good, she still wants him as a partner. He mostly uses this partnership to get Lucette into doing things for him, such as carrying his bags, which Lucette seems to accept is better than having to deal with Mr Broom.

Rumpel
He is one of the boarders at the Marchen. They first meet in the Marchen, after Rumpel is found unconscious by Garlan and Jurien and brought to the Marchen to recover. As he suffered a head injury, she was made to bring food to his room in the morning. Initially, Rumpel's comments paint him as a mindless flirt and Lucette does not want to bother talking with him.

If you are on Rumpel's route, Lucette feels compelled to attempt asking him for help with her curse but she questions in her mind why she would pick him. However, Rumpel tends to notice the attempt to approach him and he will always go to her before she leaves the room. Unlike with the other boys, Lucette behaves more of a tsundere than usual which causes a lot of the beginning of this relationship to need Rumpel to pursue her, as opposed to other routes where Lucette is the one to begin pursuing that guy.

Fritz
He is Lucette's personal knight. They met when he first got the job as her personal knight three years ago, so there is already a foundation to their relation that has happened prior to the game starting. When you first meet Fritz, Lucette states that he is the only person she can tolerate, which is a very big deal when she couldn't stand nor trust anyone else in the beginning of the game.

If you are on Fritz's route, Lucette gets separated from Waltz in the crowd, which is when Fritz finds her. She chooses to go with Fritz, while the Marchen has no idea where she's gone off to, and she stays in Fritz's home for a while. In that time, he tells her that he will see what he can do about getting Lucette back into the palace. In the meanwhile, he also uses this opportunity to take her around the town, showing her all of the bakeries he enjoys going to. We see from this that Fritz remembers a lot of small details about Lucette, such as what her favourite baked good is and other small things she likes. It's evident early on that Fritz has had a crush on her long before the events of the game, and he notices these small things about her due to those feelings.

Waltz
He is one of the boarders at the Marchen. They first meet during a street performance that Waltz is giving on the day that Lucette is to be cursed. The meeting is only brief, and they properly get a better meeting after Lucette has been cursed and brought to the Marchen. Waltz happened to be one of the people that found Lucette on the streets and ensured she arrived at the Marchen.

Initially, Lucette does not have any negative thought about him but she also doesn't understand him. He is helpful towards her when she needs it and is friendly enough, which confuses Lucette. He also tries his best to explain kind actions to her even if you are not on his route. Though if you are, he actually becomes surprised by Lucette asking him for help in breaking her curse, but he still will agree to help her.

As he has different shows to put on in the town, Lucette goes with him. While he says she can help him set up, he barely lets her do anything and instead lets her watch the show with the rest of the people. This allows her to get to see the townspeople and know them a little better as she has spent her entire life ignorant of the people she will one day rule over. He also helps her to get to the know the children of the town by having her play with them after his shows are done.

Family[]

Genaro
He is Lucette's father. Their relationship begins as very tense and distant, with any conversation we see between the two ending in an argument. While growing up, Genaro was never there for Lucette, which she saw this as her father not loving her and wanting nothing to do with her. This feeling of being unwanted is cemented to her after Hildyr's death, when Lucette wasn't even able to speak nor see her father for the months when she was in mourning.

When Genaro remarries and brings in a new step family, it led to feelings of resentment in Lucette, as if she and her mother were being replaced. With very little tact, Genaro demands that Lucette consider Ophelia, Emelaigne and Rod as her new family, despite that Lucette is not ready to accept them. This only fuels her to despise them. It is unclear when this began, but Lucette feels so distantly from Genaro that she calls him "Your Majesty" rather than father, as it reflects how she feels no fatherly love from him.

Hildyr
She is Lucette's mother. From the beginning of the game, we see that Lucette idolises her mother and believes her to be perfect in every way. Though Hildyr had died four years ago, Lucette is still mourning her loss as she felt that Hildyr was the only parent who ever loved her and the only person she could trust to not harm nor use her. She describes Hildyr's actions as being strict but that it was necessary to build Lucette up into a strong and capable princess. As such, the reason Lucette is so cold to everyone initially is due to how Hildyr raised her.

Hildyr was always present in Lucette's life and there for every lesson she had. Whenever Lucette made a mistake, Hidlyr would insist Lucette kept practicing until perfected without any complaint or rest. Anytime someone tried to get close to Lucette, such as a servant or children in the town wanting to play with her, Hildyr would stop this and telling Lucette that these were people trying to use her and she need to distance herself to remain safe. Lucette was never allowed to leave the palace under the belief that it was too dangerous for her outside and she was only safe within the palace walls.

Despite how stern and overbearing Hildyr was to Lucette, she was always certain that her mother loved her very much. Not just because Hildyr would say this constantly, but as she'd do small things for Lucette, such as holding birthday surprises for Lucette regardless that Hildyr also said that celebrating birthdays were pointless. The surprise would be to lead Lucette to a room filled with dolls for her to play with and different sweets for her to eat, which is a memory Lucette still holds dearly to this day.

Emelaigne
She is Lucette's step-sister. In the beginning, we see that Emelaigne attempts to try get along with Lucette and spend time with her, however, Lucette finds these attempts to be feigned in some plan to take her title as Crown Princess. She will constantly remind Emelaigne that they will never be sisters whenever Emelaigne refers to them as such, not caring how her words hurt Emelaigne whenever shutting the woman down. Lucette even appears to regularly complain about Emelaigne to her personal knight, Fritz, judging by how he openly can ask Lucette about whether Emelaigne was one of the reasons for her sour mood.

Ophelia
She is Lucette's step-mother. In the beginning, Lucette resents Ophelia as she feels that she's meant to replace her mother, which Genaro unintentionally supports with insisting she calls Ophelia "mother". Another reason she resents Ophelia is that she is constantly compared to be a better queen than Hildyr by the servants. Lucette also looks down on Ophelia, thinking her as a "lowly baker" who desires power along with her children. Though Ophelia attempts to show compassion and understanding towards Lucette, Lucette refuses to accept it as she wants nothing to do with Ophelia and her family.

Other[]

Delora
She is the witch who cursed Lucette and helps to run the Marchen. Initially, their relationship begins with some hostility, as Lucette is distrustful and bitter with Delora for having cursed her. In return, Delora can be quite harsh on Lucette and misses no opportunity to mock Lucette for her for the situation she is in. Delora makes it quite clear that she has her doubts that Lucette could ever be capable of doing a good deed. Though she does to try help Lucette, it can come across as quite abrasive and mocking at Lucette's expense, such as when they had to find a job for Lucette could do to earn her keep and Delora makes a broom sentient to force Lucette to clean when she was unwilling to work.

On Lucette's 17th birthday, she was given a doll, who turned out to be Delora in a magical transformation to appear as a doll. For six months prior to the beginning of the game, Delora had been on Lucette's shelf, watching her selfish actions and hearing her justifications for being so cold. However, Lucette was unaware of this and considered Delora her favourite doll. This was the doll she most often would talk to and speak with all of her concerns and fears. She expresses how lonely she is and feels as though everyone hates her through no fault of her own. Due to her being so lonely, tells her dolls that they are her only friends and the only ones she can trust, and wishes that they could be real so they could speak back to her.

Parfait
She is the Lucis Bearer who also runs the Marchen. She is also the one to organise the plan to have Lucette be cursed in order to learn how to become a good person. Despite how difficult and cold Lucette is in the beginning, Parfait is always patient with her and speaks to her as kindly and friendly as possible. She constantly shows she has faith in Lucette becoming a good person and breaking her curse. Parfait is even the one to suggest that Lucette should partner with someone else from the Marchen, trusting that anyone there could help to show Lucette what true kindness is.

Unlike Delora, Parfait's approach is very hands off. While she is around the Marchen and can be spoken to at any time, if Lucette is spending too much time on her own, Parfait does not tend to go check on Lucette to help aid her in understanding what goodness is. Given how certain Parfait is that Lucette can change, this could be an indication that she has that much faith in this plan working that it isn't necessary for her to intervene further than necessary. Despite the lack of interaction, Lucette does notice that Parfait does a lot for the people in the Marchen, even going broke despite providing shelter and food to people she doesn't know. Although Lucette does not understand why Parfait would make such a sacrifice.

Annice
She is one of the boarders at the Marchen. Not long before the beginning of the game, she had been working as a palace maid. On her first day of the job, she was given the task to clean Lucette's bedroom. However, when Lucette entered, she found the dress of her favourite doll, Delora, was torn. Assuming that Annice had done it, she fired her without a second thought. Initially, Delora tells Lucette that she should apologise to Annice for this, but Lucette believes she was within her right for firing Annice for being clumsy.

As Annice is not cursed nor a fairy nor witch, she is affected by Lucette's curse and cannot remember her. Despite that, Annice still shows respect to Lucette as a princess simply as she was told Lucette was one. Additionally, Annice is always very kind to Lucette, complimenting her for doing a good job at work and creating the salve for Lucette's injuries on her first night there. Lucette doesn't understand why Annice does this and tends to give her withering glares that intimidate Annice and make her feel nervous to talk.
